Getting anything done while Bf?!

Dd2 is 3 wks and feeds constantly, when not feeding she has to be held or screams if put near a mattress.

If she was first baby then fine but I have work to do, a house to clean and a toddler who although being good is lacking attention, I can't even get time to make her food!

So how do you do it? How to feed/hold and get things done before I give up and move to formulae.

Hehe, coincidentally just took a pic of me snuggling DS2 here, but realised i couldn't upload it on my phone! will nosey at yours. :)

thanks IAGTBF.. I have plenty of common sense and doubt that kind of carrier could cause a huge amount of damage unless used for hours every day. my DDs have both disliked the sitting-in-carriers type so weren't comfy. when a baby is front on in the baby bjorn, their legs are definitely frog like as this used to amuse me. in fairness they do "hang" more in the front facing position though.

I take my hat off to anyone who can carry round their older babies in any type of sling. I've stopped using my carriers for DD2 (6 months) as she just felt too heavy to be doing my back any good...

aww truth, nice pic. :)

my DS1 is 2.9 and would probably love a shot if he saw that! my post pg weedy muscles might protest though

would have been great for in the queue at the airport last year actually... i was holding him like that anyway!

I have a 10 week old and a 3yr old. Things have massively settled down in the last couple of weeks.

After trying out a few slings I found the close parent caboo was the best for me. I loved the moby wrap but I found I needed a mirror to get it on right and didn't have the time or patience practice! The close parent sing is ready wrapped as it were and literally takes me about 30 seconds to put on and baby in. My ds2 slept for hours in it and still does now when we are at baby groups etc.

Things do get easier and it's just a case of surviving the next few weeks.

Thanks for the sling advice.

I have a bad back and a prolapse/zero pelvic floor and DS is stupidly long/tall. I'm not supposed to be carrying him much....

BigBoPeep · 21/06/2012 00:33

love my sling, pretty much the only way to get stuff done - i have a close/caboo and its brill, really easy and quick to use. cant bf hands free with it, but it is a big help for wandering about breastfeeding and frees up at least one hand that way, and covers you up a bit!

MummyPigandDaddyPig · 21/06/2012 05:36

Have used the Babybjörn comfort for DS2 he still fits in it ar 22m, and is recommended until 2yrs. Its excellent and he can be fw or rw facing depending on his needs. i couldnt use it whils pg but DH did!:)

Softlysoftly · 21/06/2012 15:31

Thankyou all! I've contacted the local slingmeet so am going along to try some out.

Babybjorn I researched was big no no....

Anyway I have stretchy 'close carrier' which my baby and first ds1 loves/loved. V easy to use but I never mastered bf in. Then once bigger/heavier I bought an R&R which I love and if ds who is 3 would let me could still carry him in. Last used on him when was 2 and abit.
Loads of slings out there. Get to a sling meet if poss.

just to add, i love my woven wraps (i favour sober corporate greys and blues rather than glasto colours) and still carry my near 4 year old with 10 month on front. but i never found them great for feeding while doing something else. i like ergos (with insert) or boba as you can lower the waist bit, waggle them easily from side to another sid, lower or raise them to nipple, stick a muslin under the boob and readjust and support head with sleep hood. i do everything except deep fry with babies in this. and when they sleep you don't have to rety.

i love them so much i've never had a pram or buggy.

BigBoPeep · 23/06/2012 10:06

Yeah must admit my buggy doesn't see much action, she won't properly sleep in it so it only gets used when I REALLY can't have her on me to do something. It's way easier to go out and about just bunging a sling in your changing bag, not having to negotiate a buggy around a cramped shop is ace!
