After this, and seeing a few others here in the same boat, thought I'd start a thread to support but also maybe chat in the nighttime if awake etc.

And besides I need a whine!

8-12 feeds a day? Really? How about per hour?

Hi - ok, I know I'm jumping the boat here but due with my third dc tomorrow (doubt he / she will come on time but hey..)

Joining your thread as I saw you on the hugely pregnant one (I was lurking) and sympathised! - congratulations on Asteroid! .. and because dc1 and dc2 were totally like this so I expect the third might be the same.

Also joining to have a minor rant as just had both sil and mil telling me that I must formula feed this time around as apparently this time I won't have the 'luxury of sitting on the sofa all day feeding' Confused. Hmm, not sure I remember it being a luxury - more a bloody great sacrifice!

So whine away.. mine literally fed 20 hours out of every 24.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 18/06/2012 13:44

Luxury!!!!!! Shock

I'm managing today because I feel a bit less battered and I have to do the stairs twice to be out of puff instead of not even being able to make the full flight without stopping.

I'm tryin to plan my sitting down time with brewed tea/MN/Internet 'jobs'/reading with one of the kids etc. and plan 2-3 small jobs for the next unexpected break. Actually I've managed to be more productive that I usually am Hmm.

I'm in awe of you starlight with a plan. I'm all over the shop and usually end up feeding minus phone and tv remote. In my defence I'm so bloody tired I don't know what day it is.
Last night ds1 fed from 9 til 2am, and most of that time was fighting with my poor nipples.
Plus dh went back to work today after paternity leave and I haven't cried once (smug face)
I do comfort knowing there are others going through the same :)

StarlightWithAsteroid · 18/06/2012 15:49

imm Good luck with the birth. 20 hours a day with your last? Wow!

Ahh, this makes me feel a little better. Having a terrible day. Ds is 3 weeks old, the lack of sleep has built up and finally defeated me. Have a mouth full of ulcers, on the brink of mastitis for a few days, cold + hayfever and a toddler who refused to nap today. Luckily my mum came to help today!
Sleep when they sleep! Ha!

Moan over.

I am kept going by thinking about pregnant mates, whrn they have a 3wk old, mine will be 3-4 months and will no longer cl;uster feed till 11pm (or else).

StarlightWithAsteroid · 18/06/2012 16:09

DH had to go to work today for a few hours Sad but he coukd take Ds too school. Dd been parked in front of cbeebies. A friend bring Ds home.

Dd is almost 15 weeks. Today has been 40-60 mins on solid munching. 60 mins (if I'm lucky) off

Here we go again.....,,

Don't wanna speak to soon but ds1 has been a little angel, plus I'm just up after 2 hr kip when dh had him.
I've also just put him in a rather dodgy swaddle (drums fingers whilst awaiting the screams)

SwivelHips · 19/06/2012 00:30

Of course he's sound asleep and now I'm not freaking tired. Should I hoover?

melliebobs · 19/06/2012 07:43

NO! Sleep. Or sit n watch telly. Never housework Smile

StarlightWithAsteroid · 19/06/2012 09:23

Ah, not too bad last night. DS slept from 12:30 until 3:15. Trouble is that coz milk has just come in, and due to previous nights, I was still waking every 15mins. Still as least I lie in a position I wanted without it having to be one that works whilst being latched on.

I've been posting on the other thread too!

Last night was much better... because I let DD sleep with me all night. Feed at 10pm, then I sat up to feed her at 1am and 6am. She won't be put down at the moment without grizzling then crying, trying not to worry too much about this at such an early stage (3 weeks) but haven't even showered today.

I don't sleep too well with her in the bed because I worry about squishing her, but better than being awake for hours at a time Confused

So feeling pretty good today, while yesterday I felt I was sinking fast. I'd forgotten how intense this early stage is.

caeleth · 20/06/2012 16:06

I'd like to join this one too! Ds is generally ok during the day with 3 hr feeds, but nights are another matter! 10 days today and he went from 3902g thurs to 4455g mon... He'll happily empty both breasts and stll be wanting more.
