Pinching

My DD is 6mo and has started pinching while nursing. It started a couple of weeks ago when she would sort of rake or scratch my arm. Now though it's progressed to real pinching and it's not just my arm anymore. She's started pinching my breast really hard too! It hurts!! Any tips on how to stop this becoming a habit?

Yes, I too hold her hand to stop her being annoying/hurting me.

It's awful, you have my sympathy.

You aren't alone! My DS has also started doing this at 6 months. Even when I squawked v loudly in surprise it didn't stop him.

My DS has a good giggle when I take him off and say what I think is a firm "no!". Cue giving it another go ..... He usually stops the pinching, fingernail digging, nipple biting after 2-3 no!
It's trying though and the little man is big and strong so it bloody hurts! So no solution... Yet.

No solution here either. I have a skin tag in one armpit and if I'm feeding so that side is accessible DS tries to pull it off throughout the feed. A firm 'no' is the most hilarious thing in the world.

Have had mixed success with breastfeeding necklaces/pendants - think ideally I'd have to change them every week or so as he gets bored playing with one thing!

She thinks a firm no is funny too. I've put a big cuddly toy over her so she can't reach her arm over it to pinch me tonight! She's currently happy scratching at his label and seams.

DS used to do this but seems to have grown out of it. I would say no and move his hand. Sometimes now (aged 15 m) he will start pinching my skin on my arm or my chest and again I say no (or shriek if it hurts) and move his hand. He seems to get the message as he doesn't do it often.
