Well . I breastfed dd all over the place from mountain cafes (inside and out!), to trains, restaurants, shopping centres, Mc D's. As long as you do it discreetly it will be fine ! Be aware though that very few places are non smoking. Also watch the altitude for her ears - if you are in a cable car, for example, get her to suck on a dummy or your finger to pop her ears.

Where are you going ? Hope you have a nice time (it was raining last week )

We lived in Switzerland when our daughter was small. Breastfeeding is MUCH more common over there than it is here in the UK. I bottle fed my daughter for various reasons and felt distinctly uncomfortable (probably hormone induced paranoia) doing so in public as I hardly ever saw another mother do it! So I think you will probably be received well - although of course Ski resorts are full of international people so you may get a mix of reactions.

That's good to know. I'm off to Crans Montana - we're doing a dry run of packing this weekend (my hubby's idea) as have no idea what we need to bring. we also have to get her used to a cot in the next few weeks - she's slept in her pram so far and there's only a cot in the apartment. So much to think about!

If you have room (and I appreciate you might not!) then take your nappies with you - the price of nappies out there will take your breath away!

We went there when ds was 2 ish. A bit too spread out for convenience but a decent bus service running from one centre to the other. She'll be fine, are you taking her pram anyway? Take lots of cotton layers for her and a waterproof top layer, hat and mitts. If you have access to a washing machine then you can always do a wash mid week if needs be.

Halster - we didn't really find that tbh (lived there for 4 years) but perhaps we just got accustomed to it. Supermarkets sell them for less than 30chf (£12)for a large packet of Huggies or Pampers (c£9 in Boots) but better than taking half a suitcase load !

we're not taking the pram, just the maclaren pushchair. hubby thinks it will beeasier on plane/train/etc. good opportunity to get her used to a cot as she's outgrowing the pram at a rate of knots.

as to nappies, will see how much space is left! thanks for the heads-up1

You may find the roads and footpaths aren't very clear though so Maclaren may struggle - if needs be you could hire something more substantial though so don't panic.
