Advice on leaving 9 month old ds for a weekend

I need to attend a wedding, which is child free 'so people can enjoy themselves'. Ds is bf apart from one bottle of formula at 7pm. Normally takes about 4oz. I started switching to ff a few months ago but felt guilty so stopped.

Anyway, we still co/sleep and he feeds on and off all night.

I really need to go to this, but feel stressed and guilty about leaving him.

Will going make me a terrible mum? Does anyone have any tips to make it possible?

No tips but I left DS (7mnths EBF) last week for the first time when we went to a wedding, he stayed overnight with my parents.

Due to childfree wedding I sent DH by himself and I just went to the evening do. In the week before I'd expressed with great difficulty about 20oz and bought a carton of fomula "just in case".

I did the bedtime feed, then packed him and the milk off with my parents. He had about 3oz later that night, then had 1 and a half weetabix, a banana and a slice of toast for breakfast but refused all milk!!

I wouldn't have said I was worried beforehand but from about 4pm on the day I was feeling physically sick. DH admitted afterwards that he was a bit upset that DS didn't cry for us all night!

Amazingly they all had a great time (GP's and DS). What did reassure me was that they were only about 20 mins from the venue and my dad would have come and collected me from there or from home at any time should there have been a problem.

I would say go for it and don't feel guilty

Thanks for the reassurance Noodie. I had it in my head that by now he would be formula fed and staying at grand parents once a week. Despite a wobble every couple of weeks I still appear to be closer to the attachment parenting spectrum.

Did you express while you were away?

I didn't bother expressing, but I only left him overnight and he was back with me by mid morning. I did feel a bit "full" but not uncomfortably so.

I think that the important thing was that I totally trusted my mother.

And once I got to the wedding I made the concious effort to have a big drink and not think about DS as I decided it was totally pointless leaving him then worrying all night! My mum did text me a couple of times and sent a picture of him curled up asleep so I knew all was well.

I'm really glad that I did it as we have another wedding at the end of the month and although DS is coming to the day my parents will have him again overnight so hopefully I can be a bit calmer this time.

I think that Is what makes a big difference too. I never quite trust my mother in law to tell me how he has been. Which is completely irrational as she is lovely.
