Any advice? Stopping BF at 13m and engorgement

DD had her last BF a couple of nights ago. She's 13 months, eats well and guzzles cows milk from her cup. She's been down in one feed a day for a few weeks and probably would have carried on for longer - however, I think it was time for me to stop for various reasons.

Anyway, I've woken up this morning with two rock hard footballs attached to my chest. I've had a google and the advice seems to be just to wear a tight bra and take painkillers if necessary. Should I be expressing a little bit off for comfort or will that just continue to stimulate my supply? Any advise on how long it will take for the engorgement to die down?

You can certainly express a little to relieve the pain if it is unbearable.
This will lengthen the time it takes to stop completely, but not by a great deal and it will reduce the chance of mastitis in the meantime.
Personally, I expressed twice after stopping feeding. Once a few days after the last feed and once more a few days after that. It really helped it me on both occasions.
You can also massage your breasts to help relieve the hardness. Warm showers help too.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Think I might have to whip the pump out later just to take the edge off it. I'd forgotten how painful engorgement is!
