Breastfeeding in public with a lively toddler

Does anyone have any tips of how to manage this?

I'm trying to get to grips with a sling, but I don't seem to have the boobs for it - babies head in very different place to nipple Confused. Trying to persevere!

At the moment I feel trapped because it's early days, there's no pattern to DD's feeding and I'm just not sure how I'm going to feed her in public with a wriggly DS in tow.

Help?!

Hiya my DD is 4.5 months now and I had exactly the same problem with my DS (3). To be honest I just had to limit my trips out to being just to other people's houses (or they came to us) during the week. Then at the weekend we could all go out with my DH looking after DS while I fed DD. I asked around and no one really had a solution other than that I'm afraid. Perhaps you could take a friend with you where you're going (e.g. soft play?) Sling feeding - I kn ow exactly what you mean. I purchased one of those closer slings (£40) out of desperation but always felt that DD was going to suffocate in there if I pressed her head up against my boob!

More helpfully if you must feed while you're out - try time consuming snacks for your older one e.g. a sandwich bag full of raisins and breadsticks? Not sure how old they are but this might just work for 15 mins? Not really long enough to feed properly I know. You could then get an episode of peppa up on your phone maybe?

Thanks, uggbug!

Chocolate buttons would do it... he'll get a new set of teeth anyway, right :)
Good idea about the phone, always good for keeping him quiet. Think we might have to wait until feeds take a bit less time. DS is nearly 3.

Sorry for the crap use of English in the OP, btw.

dont go out in public unless you have someone around to help you control toddler.

How about going to toddler groups? Presumably they are safe enough for him to run around. It's also less embarassing when you suddenly have to move and have to show the whole world a glimpse of your boobs, since everyone there will understand as they are all mums of toddlers?

I know it doesn't solve the going out and feed problem, but at least maybe its somewhere you can go safely just to get out of the house?
