Just a quick one, my daughter is 8 weeks old, she falls asleep between 10 and 11pm at night always just before her final feed of the day is due, then the only way we can give it to her is to wake her up - she only takes 1-2 oz of the 6 she is due and then because we have woken her wont settle again until 1-2 am, obviously this cant continue but I cant get her to accept any more during the day, can anyone help me with how to get her to take more or in to a bit of a routine with her? Im wondering whether to just leave her to sleep and see what time she wakes tbh but have a feeling it will still be 6-7 ish so she will still only have four feeds the next day

Also if she starts totally knocking off that last feed which she evidently doesnt want is she going to start dropping weight?

I agree with the expression "never wake a sleeping baby"!!! Your baby will wake you when she needs feed I think. Then she will probably feed well cos she is hungry. My dd1 slept through from half past six until half past six when she was 12 weeks old and never had a 10pm feed - it was always 2am or 3am. Congrats - you may just have a really chilled out and contented baby! My dd1 has continued to be a good sleeper.

If you are worried though could you give her a last feed at half nine before she is really sleepy?

Thanks for answering, I couldnt get her to take a half nine feed shes just not ready for it - think your right ill just let her sleep and tell me when she is hungry

My DD was a low birthweight so I had to wake her to feed every 3 hours. But at 8 weeks I was told by her HCP that I could let her sleep.
She didn't but my point is that unless there are health reasons such as a low weight etc.. I'd be inclined to let her sleep now and see what happens, feed her when she does wake and adjust the next days feeding schedule accordingly.
Good luck.

We had to wake DD every three hours due to slow weight gain, getting her to eat was always a struggle. I often found that we had to wake her up by changing her first, then feeding!

it depends on her weight gain. Only 4 feeds a day is not much at her age.

Try to fit in another daytime feed and make them a bit closer together.

We did this with DS - realised months later that it was a big mistake. If she's sleeping, DON'T wake her up! When she's hungry she will wake.

Honestly... if she is peaceful, leave her be. I know it's really hard going to bed at 11pm when you know baby is likely to wake an hour later, but it's really worth just being led by your DD.

6oz a feed a LOT for an 8wo as well.. Greedy DS was still on 4-5oz at this age.
if you're worried about weight gain then go more feeds during the day

Sorry, one more..

once she's a little older you'll be able to dream feed. You can put the bottle in their mouth and they can take a full feed while still asleep. Do smaller feeds at night though.
