Mixing batches of expressed breast milk

hi folks: a bit rusty on expressing...took 3oz off yesterday morning before a feed (I'd missed a feed the night before & was v engorged). I'd say it's mostly foremilk as there's v little creamy stuff at the top. Tool off 1oz after a feed today & hoping I can mix the two amounts for DH to feed to DD tonight. Both have been in fridge. Ok for me to do this?

I think it's okay to do that.

We used to combine batches of expressed breastmilk to get enough for a full feed when feeding DS.

It's fine as long as both/all the milk is the same temp (so all refridgerated before mixing together) and you treat the milk as though it is all the oldest (so if it's not used tonight then it has to be treated as being Sunday's milk rather than Monday's milk IYSWIM).

Not to be the bearer of bad news or anything so please don't shoot me Wink but.....You do there is a good chance you may need to pump at some point during your evening off as your body won't know baby is having a bottle and still make milk at it's usual rate?

The thing to do, in my limited experience so far, is to feed the baby as much as poss in the early evening (5 and 7 or 6 and 8) Then express as much as you can at 9 or 9.30 ish. Then off to bed with you with strict instructions not to bother you till at least 2 in the morning. Obviously you would also have needed to express in the morning, or the previous day, to get enough for a full feed, as I find that it is hard to pump all that much out in the evening but I get more in the morning. But you definitely need to express before you go to bed. if DH doesn't need the milk tonight it can be frozen and used the next time he does the late feed.

I missed a feed the other night (my mum gave him formula for me as I hadn't had time to express and I needed some sleep). Despite having given the baby a good feed at 8pm, I woke up at 3am with very wet pyjamas.
