Reflux or possetting?

DC2 (DS) is 6 days old & ebf on demand, as was DC1. DC1 didn't start possetting until about 4 weeks old and then it was only ever small amounts. DC2 has been possetting/throwing up after each feed pretty much since the start. He was born v quickly - 3 min pushing! - and so was "grunty" to start off with which the MW explained was because he didn't have time to expel much/any mucus during active labour & so during the next 12 hours or so he coughed up a lot of mucus. Since then, he has had at least a dribble of sick after each feed but both once last night & once this morning it was more of a projectile vomit. I caught most of last night's in an empty mug & there was at least 100ml. The thing which makes me think its just possetting is that he seems quite happy lying on his back & is much better than DC1 was at this age at sleeping in his pram or moses basket.
We're having plenty of wet nappies, maybe more dirty ones than wet ones & he's weight is fine - at his 5 day weigh in yesterday, he'd only lost 10g from a starting point of 3.5kg. He generally seems to feed well but we're not in a pattern yet. Yesterday he was managing two boobs then a couple of hours without a feed; today its been one boob every hour since 6am.
I'm also wondering if I'm just not winding him very well & that that is causing the projectile vomiting. He's very farty...or is that just a boy thing?!

My dd used to projectile vomit, not with every feed but would be sick more or less after everyone. It definitely wasn't reflux as she wasn't in pain. She'd also always do a double burp (even now and she's 9.5 months).

I concluded that I could overfeed a breastfed baby (always told you can't) in that she was a 'sucker' and liked to suck but wouldn't have a dummy, so when she sucked on me she took milk- anything spare she threw back up. This went on for a few months and she was just a 'sicky' baby (apparently I was and dp too).

Would be worth speaking to hv, midwife or gp though to rule out anything serious like allergies, intolerances or reflux.

My ds1 had reflux.
He would be sick after every feed. At first it was just a bit and I didn't think too much of it, but then he became very grunty and would wiggle around looking uncomfortable or in pain. The ammount he'd bring up increased so I took him to the gp, who originally told me he was fine and I was just panicking because I was a first time mum.
I kept going to the gp because the sickness continued after every feed and the gp referred us after 6 weeks.
Ds1 was diagnosed with reflux and put on a medicated formula. (I wasn't bfing)
The paed told me that it's normal to possett but it's not normal to bring up after every feed.

Hi all
My DS is just the same. 10 weeks old and throws up after every feed. He is mix fed and strangely throws up breast milk much more than he does formula. I kind of put it down to him over eating at the breast as he loves to suck, then all the excess comes back!
I don't think it's anything more serious as he is very happy, sleeps and plays happily on his back and only cries when hungry.
How much would be considered acceptable for a sicky baby. First thing in the morning when he just has breast milk he can throw up quite a lot, maybe 50mls.
Thanks
H

I'll check with the MW and HV when I see them next week. In the meantime, I think it may be due to overfeeding as he is a very sucky baby (been on the boob for most of the past four hours!) but, as some of you have experienced, will not take a dummy.

Dd now takes a cherry shaped dummy (the old fashioned kind), she eventually took it by 7 weeks I think. Improved sickness when she finally took it.

Is your letdown fast? That was another reason dd was sick as it would come down quickly and she'd splutter. So I used to block feed each boob twice.
