Weaning or nursing strike?

DS is 16 mo and a very enthusiastic feeder. Been ill for last 2 days (tonsilitis) and feeding loads however today he hasn't fed at all.

When he tries to feed he put lips on nipple but doesn't latch. Could it be pain or the end of bf?

Nursing strike!

It's quite common for pain (teething, ear infection, tonsillitis, etc) to trigger a strike. Is he on painkillers/anti-biotics? He might appreciate a nice skin to skin cuddle with mummy and if he nurses he nurses, if not, there's always later (you don't want to force/heavily encourage them to nurse as it can back fire!).

You can express if you need/want to, but it isn't as essential to express 8 times a day as you would if DS was 16w, not 16m.

Kellymom.com has lots of info on nursing strikes here.

Hope your DS feels better very soon.

it's also really warm today - has it suddenly gone from colder weather to warmer weather where you are?

that can make a difference (the quick change, not the heat itself!)

Thanks both, that was what I was thinking. It is warm here too. I'll offer but leave it up to him.

Thanks again
