Has anyone tried this for a colicky windy baby? If so, did you think it helped?

No evidence for cranial osteopathy helping with colic and I would be wary of paying an unqualified practitioner £££ for manipulating the bones of my newborn baby's skull.

yes and it worked wonders (though took a few sessions to work wonders consistently)

wish i hadnt waited 3 weeks for the 1st appointment

Yes, worked a treat for our DD, she was like a different baby after 2 sessions. We also had a hard time getting her to take a bottle (she's ebf) but after going to cranio and understand she's got a weak suck reflex it all made a bit more sense.... However, I know others who've had little/no success with it.

It also works for reflux and constipation (never saw the latter one coming, pooh everywhere!!)
Saying that don't just let anyone do it, it needs to be someone that specialized in babies.

I've heard really good things about www.fpo.org.uk (London-based - used to be Farringdon, now Wandsworth).

No, had no effect for my DS. To be fair to the practitioner, he did say that despite my son's traumatic birth, he seemed a very happy baby and might just have a bit of an immature digestive system for the moment.

Nobhead · 05/06/2012 21:53

Used it for DS- he was colicky all the live long day Sad it was truly a horrible time. It worked well for us he had 5 sessions (1 a week) from being 5 weeks old. My midwife recommended one as it helpedwith her twins, when I explained it to the health visitor she basically scoffed and told me they were quacks. My MIL told me it was because he wasn't breastfed Hmm.
Having a colicky baby is like a frustrating nightmare- I remember me and DH being up with him all night regularly and googling his symptoms in the hope that someone would have a magic fix it cure.

I'm withTondelayoSchwarzkopf on this one.

I don't think there's any evidence for it but anecdotal, which is all you'll get on this thread. I had a cranio sacral practitioner come up to me at a party once and start faffing around, unasked, with my newborn son's head- I was beyond pissed off.

I know what it's like to want a 'solution' but personally I'd rather go with something research and evidence-based.
