Tommee Tippee and bottle warmers.

I'm beginning to bottle feed expressed milk and need a bottle warmer. As I am mainly bf I don't want to spend a fortune as it won't be used too often. I know the Avent and Tippee electric warmers both fit the closer to nature bottles in, do any others. Has anyone used Asdas Little Angels warmer with these bottles or any other inexpensive ones?

mumnosbest · 16/05/2012 11:22

Thanks but takes a bit too long for impatient DD and DH who will be doing bottle feeds :)

We just give it 15 seconds in the microwave...

We tried the warming in a jug of boiled water but it took so long that DS was fully waking up in the night.

TheSurgeonsMate · 16/05/2012 11:36

Any chance they'll drink it cold?

mumnosbest · 16/05/2012 11:43

Wont be using for night feeds so not a prob there. I'm using the kettle now, reluctant to use microwave as causes hot spots in milk or food/uneven temp. She's only just beginning on a bottle so think it needs to be warm to fool her into thinking it's the same as the breast. Also I'm going to need a warmer occasionally for food in the future.
Kettle is just taking too long.

I thought the kettle was quicker than a bottle warmer...unless you boil a huge volume...

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 16/05/2012 12:03

They're all equally crap. Avent don't properly fit TT closer to nature bottles, TT temperature completely random. Have both, resorting to microwave and good shake!

They are all a pile of useless tosh, bought one for my pfb- was crap couldnt fit certain bottles and pots in it and tbh its quicker to boil the kettle.
I bought a posh one when i had dc4 thinking it would be good but it was also crap, ended up giving it away!

pumpkinsweetie · 16/05/2012 12:27

Buy a jug pyrex jug-u can fit all types of bottles in that and its cheap and wont melt on contact with hot water

mumnosbest · 16/05/2012 12:32

The kettle is quick but it then takes ages to warm the bottle. Also it's harder to do it 1 handed with screaming DD in the other hand . I liked the Avent one, when you take the plastic insert out the TT bottles do fit but I gave it away after DD1. I just wondered if there was a cheaper version, equally as good. Asda's is only £10 or else it's ebay.

Laws of physics say otherwise...

Figgygal · 16/05/2012 17:58

Another vote for microwave 60 seconds on defrost does it for us.

The tt bottle warmer only seems to work if you doing full bottles as i think it works on weight otherwise it flash boils them. used twice now lives I back of cupboard

mumnosbest · 16/05/2012 23:35

Thanks for the suggestions but for us its definately gotta be a warmer. I just find it easier to stick the bottle in and press a button. No filling andd pouring hot water.

I was quite happy with the avent but just wondered if anyone can reccomend a cheaper warmer?

Asdas do one which is only £10 x

melliebobs · 17/05/2012 08:54

I agree. Jug n boiled water doesn't take long at all. I bf but dh manages with that on the odd night feed

mumnosbest · 17/05/2012 09:26

pumpkin - that's the one I've seen and wondered if it was any good. Has anyone tried it?

I know the kettle doesn't take long but we want a warmer.

I've always used the microwave. Just give it a good shake afterwards.

Failing that jug and boiling water.

LST · 17/05/2012 19:02

Sorry sent to early.

Was meant to say.. I found the TT one a bit pants. My friend had the Asda one and she seems to have had no problems

MrsHende · 17/05/2012 19:03

I know it would still involve pouring hot water but how about filling a flask with boiling water so you don't need to wait for the kettle?

mumnosbest · 17/05/2012 19:41

Thanks LST. Like the flask idea too MrsHende thanks.

littleweed10 · 18/05/2012 22:49

I second the flask - I think I had a fisher price one, which was a flask but the screw off cup was a actually a wide and tall beaker to pour the stored water in.

I was put off the electric bottle warmers as they seemed to take longer than the kettle boiling and putting in a jug method.

And worth experimenting how warm or cold the baby likes their milk. My DS liked his colder than I would have imagined... Other baby i know positively loved it cold straight from the fridge...
