How can I get DD to bf feed in the mornings??

Dd is 25wks old! The last 2 night DD has managed to go longer at night without a feed! So surely by the morning she would be hungry!! But she isn't and my breast are SO engorged that they are so painful. She only Feds from one Bresat per feed. She pretty much waits till she is tired to feed and then only feeds whilst she's sleeping!! I find myself not being able to do anything until she's fed from both breast as I'm so uncomfortable. I can't remember the last time she wanted a feed and fed wide awake!!

We start blw next week but I'm so scared that she will reduce her feeds because at 24wks I tried to wean her but it wasn't very successful so I gave up. The main problem is that she reduced her feeds from 10 a day to around 5 a day! And even those 5 I had to choax her into having a feed! Also didn't like being spoonfed so thought blw is the way!

Ouch painful boobs!! Sad

Could you express a little form which ever side she isn't feeding from in the morning? Just enough to relieve the pressure?

The thing is though, I'm not sure if that would then stimulate your supply and make the problem worse!!

I hope someone more knowledgeable comes along!

I think you could probably express a little by hand to ease the pressure. Perhaps she's suddenly got a lot more efficient at feeding so is taking in more during a feed. My DD is 18wks and I don't find the not eating immediately on waking thing unusual. She can often sleep all night and still happily not show hunger cues until 30mins after she's woken and that's after sometimes sleeping a 10hr stretch. I guess it's like some people not liking to eat breakfast. Is she still gaining weight ok?

If you are two days in already then you are almost there, you body needs to get tge message. Hang in there it is horrible.

I'm having her weighed next week so I'll know then whether the changes have made an impact on her weight! A part of me feels that she just doesn't want to be breastfed anymore!! I read of so many bf babies that WANT to nurse when they are ill, teething, bored, etc and my DD just doesn't do that! Shes the complete opposite!! I'm really struggling at the moment to feed her.
