DH taking DS out for the day - will bottles of EBM be ok in a cool bag?

I'm going to the daytime bit of a hen do in a few weeks, by which time DS will be eight and a half weeks old. He had his first taste of expressed milk from a bottle today and was happy to take it. I'd planned to take him on the hen do, and may well still do so, but DH has offered to come with us (it's in another city) and spend the day sightseeing with DS. This would mean keeping bottles of expressed milk cool from early morning (when we leave home) until early evening (when we meet up again). Would they be ok in a cool bag with ice packs?

I appreciate that I'll need to express during the day, and I'm not sure that I actually want to be apart from DS all day, but just checking the practicalities in case we decide to go with that plan.

TIA

Yes, that'd be just fine.

Brilliant, thanks!

Do be consistent in offering him the bottle, say once a day until then as we stopped for week when DD was 9 weeks old and then at 10 weeks she wouldn't take it anymore!

Oh yes, it's very important to keep offering EBM now he's accepted it.

PotteringAlong · 06/05/2012 18:58

I've done that before and it was fine!

Oh, and enjoy the Hen do! :o

Great, thanks, everyone. He was a bit more reluctant to accept the bottle today so will definitely make sure I'm persistent! Thank you.

I have one of these for keeping bottles of formula milk cool on a day out of overnight. It is brilliant, bottles are still cold to the touch 8 hours or more later.

Oh, that looks great, thanks!
