Anyone????

At the moment I'm sorely (pun intended!) tempted to run home and feed DD, but fearful that puts me back to square 1.

sara are you doing it gradually? You should be dropping one feed at a time ideally one a week. You can hand express or use a pump to relieve the engorgement but only what's strictly necessary.

Olimpia no I am going "cold turkey". I know this isn't ideal but I don't have time to drop one a week as I'm going away next week without DD and feel it is better that I do that whilst I am with her rather than she suffers the stress of me being away AND no milk.

Does "strictly necessary" include pain?

Oh no, poor you, just be careful because you risk getting very unwell if you stop cold turkey (blocked ducts, mastitis, etc).
How long it takes to dry up is variable but also depends how old DD is which you don't say (the longer you've been bf the longer it takes to dry up).
If you really want to stop, as a measure of last resort you could the combined contraceptive pill for a few days as it has the side effect of greatly reducing your supply because of the estrogen in it.
