Daft question about feeding / co-sleeping

this morning I finally (after 5 months!) mastered feeding lying down which led to a fab feed / sleep for both me and DS from 7.15 til 9am!

We tend to co-sleep - he goes down in his Cot and I bring him into bed with us when he first wakes for a feed. He usually wakes every 3 hours ish (11pm, 1am, 4am).

The question is, how do people safely co-sleep and feed lying down from both breasts overnight? I don't want to turn over and have him sleeping between me and DH and risk falling asleep like that and really don't want to kick DH into the spare bed!

Do I turn upside down for half the night so my feet are up by the top of the bed but it means a different boob is bottom each time? Lots of feeds off one side? Carry on sitting up for feeds? It's confusing me!

At first I did start by swapping DD over to each side when I needed to switch sides, so she was inbetween me and DH, but I kept her very close to me and DH was about a foot away, so I felt comfortable doing that. But I soon discovered that I could feed from both sides by slightly bending over DD and getting her to latch on to the other breast, and she raises herself slightly to meet it half way! Works for me and saves me having to swap DD over.

Ooh, will try that! Thank you

Congrats on mastering lying down feeding, it truly is easier! Grin

Same as the other poster, I lean over the other boob and she finds it but have only recently started doing that.

For a while I used to feed off the one side at night and my body worked out that was what baby wanted & the other boob wouldn't fill up until the morning feed.
