Hi I seem to be going round Iin circles and not getting much help. Dd is 5 weeks for past 2 weeeks suffering with silent reflux occasionally sick but not a lot. Gags grimaces sometimes with bottle, lots of hiccups, wheezing coughing and bungee up. Figedty after feeding, won't sleep on her back at night, foam at mouth sometimes, screaming fits. She started off sleeping beautifully on back in crib etc. She is on aptimil spoke to hv tried gaviscon did nothing but constipiate her. Tried colief which helped at night for 2 nights slept bit better still uncomfortable and helped her get rid of wind massively but nor other symptoms. Spoke to hv yesterday who said try staydown and colief which I can't as need to use warm milk time to work etc. Gp dismissive of reflux as she is not sick thinks she is colicky. However last night awful mucas back no sleep on her back today feeding terrible again. Am thinking of trying the staydown on its own see if works. I have slgh

caz I've heard people having been prescribed stronger stuff for reflux if really needed (Omeprazole or ranitidine) as gaviscon is not very effective in extreme cases. However I have to say that what you are describing is fairly common with a iot of newborns (hiccups, wind, fussiness, gagging on reflux, etc) so I'm not sure that stronger medication may be appropriate.
Have you tried holding her upright for a good half hour after each feed? Also have you tried a different brand of bottles? Perhaps she's also gulping a lot of air and a different teat might do it.

My daughter had this. Exactly as you described. I was told it is very common and really just wind and an immature digestive system.

I did the following,

Dr Brown bottles really reduced her wind
Dentinox in the bottle worked a treat as well
At night I used a Reflux wedge pillow, this helped with her throwing up in the night.
Regularly changed formula to see which would agree with her better. Aptamil was the best.
I would let her fall asleep on me after winding then put her down once she had settled.

The gp I saw told me it would pass, and it really did. She was fine by three months.

Hope this helps.
