Can't keep any food down - how do I maintain milk supply?

I've woken up today with a nasty case of diarrhoea and vomiting. I know any bug I've got won't be passed on via breastmilk but as I can't eat or drink anything without it coming straight back up, how am I going to make enough milk to feed my dd?

Anyone got any advice on this? Should I get dh to nip to the chemist for some supplement type thing?

I hardly ever take medicines so I'm quite unsure of what works and what doesn't.

Breastmilk production relies on fluids, not food. Starving women still produce milk, in fact. You can absorb fluids in the mouth, btw, just suck on ice cubes will help keep you hydrated.
See the advice I just wrote out for tracyk on how you need to to get rid of the tummy bug in you as fast as possible.

How long have you been sick for?
Your body is surprisingly resilient.
I think anything longer than 48 hours would have me popping to the chemist for some rehydration salts.
Have you tried tiny sips of water spaced out over a long time?

Thanks - yes, moondog, the tiny sips of water are what I have been doing. So hopefully my milk is OK in the short term, which is a relief.

Will check that link straight away, mszebra, thanks .

I had a stomach bug the other weekend and worried about this when I was vomiting every two hours through the night. I just kept sipping water, sometimes with rehydration salts. I spent the next day in bed, as I was completely exhausted. No food for at least 24 hours. I don't think my milk suffered - but I did lose 6 lbs in two days
