How on earth do you get them to feed more during day if very determined not to?!

My ds (16 wks) has got to that point that I've read about on here before that he seems to be so distracted during feeds during the day that he's decided to stock up at night when he's nice and relaxed and sleepy and therefore waking much more at night. During the day he now has absolute max 10mins, one side, about every 3 hours but can be distracted very easily and often once distracted just will not go back on. I try offering more feeds all the time but he's started to get so cross with me when I do, turning away and really crying. So at night he's now waking approx every 2 hours and taking a very full feed each time. Is this just something I've got to ride out or has anyone got any tips for filling him up in the day a bit more without him getting so upset?!

I fed the second he stirred from his nap. Sometimes would fall asleep again but they are still get calories so worth keeping them on. Feeding lying down is more relaxing. You may have to draw the curtains so they actually can't see anything to distract them. And turn off tv/radio, ban anyone else from breathing etc.

It does pass around 7 months I think he was adept at looking around while feeding.

Agree with Stranger about feeding after naps, they often feed more when they are sleepy. Getting in the bath with him might encourage him to feed too.

What he is doing sounds like reverse cycling. Dr Sears also has some good information on night nursing here.

You may already be doing this, Elizabeth Pantley suggests in the No Cry Sleep Solution that you expose your baby to bright sunlight upon waking in the morning. Think the theory is that it helps to reset the babys clock. Some people make a cuppa, wrap up and go into the garden first thing, I've tried it and it does help. We also found that making sure baby went out for a walk after tea helped too.
