Sling for breastfeeding?

Has anyone got any recommendations?

Also how easy is it? Am hoping it will help me breastfeed whilst entertaining my two year old plus like the thought it might make me feel more comfortable breastfeeding in public?

Huggababy is fab. Very easy once you have the knack - can breastfeed walking around if you want, totally discreetly. No flesh visible, no need for anyone to even guess what you are doing.

Thank you! Have just found one on ebay, bid and won! And normally I'm so indecisive!

Oh wonderful! I hope you enjoy it. If you have any problems, come back and pester me, or ring Huggababy direct as they are very helpful and will talk you through it on the phone. It does take a bit of getting used to if you haven't used a sling before, but once you have the knack you will not look back - it is so worth persevering with

Ok I'm being really thick now, but can I just ask- a normal baby sling, or a special " breastfeeding" one??!

TLB, it is a normal fabric sling, that fastens with a ring at your shoulder, but it is very discreet and easy for breastfeeding (as are most ring slings once you get the hang of them).

Tricotti is amazing!! Reccommended!!

Thanks F&Z, was trying to work out how I might feed dd in my sling and discreetly (sp? doesn't look right!) TOO. Find giant norks make it hard to be discreet.... That, and the fact that dd has taken to stopping to gaze around, and lifting my top whilst feeding!

FrannyandZooey · 12/02/2006 09:03

TLB, if you mean a front carrier like the Baby Bjorn, where the child is upright on your chest, I don't think you can feed in those, unless you have really bendy norks and don't care who sees

With a fabric sling the child can lie down with head at breast height and body lying across the front of you, in the classic position you would rock a baby to sleep. You can tighten the sling so they are securely held so you can walk around, even go hands free once you get the hang of it. The material can cover the baby's entire body and hides what's going on - I have breastfed ds in a very smart restaurant with no-one the wiser - kept him quiet too, and he then slept through the rest of the meal.

Oh yes the final bonus is when they fall asleep, you can easily pop them down and untie the sling so you can sneak off without waking them. Fabulous.

Sounds fab! Have front carrier, tomy one I think. Don't think it's worth getting another though now, dd is 5mo and I am getting much bolder at feeding. Maybe will consider next time?!

I used mine till ds was 2 years old, as they can sit up on your hip from about 5 / 6 months. It was wonderful for us as ds loathed being in his pushchair but had got too big and heavy for the Baby Bjorn type. The weight is distributed across your pelvis as well as your shoulders so it is much more comfortable. I am a bit evangelical about them as you can tell!

threelittlebabies · 12/02/2006 17:15

Something for me to consider then F&Z! Thanks for the info

FrannyandZooey · 12/02/2006 17:16

I will shut up now I promise

threelittlebabies · 12/02/2006 17:39

Not at all! Where did you get yours from?
