Blocked duct....can I feed DD the expressed milk?

I have felt like death all day and thought I had mastitis. All symptoms except redness. I just noticed a teeny tiny whit head on my nipple (sorry tmi!) I knocked the top off and milk gushed out!

Breast feels so much better already.

I expressed about 35 ml to work the lumps through. Milk is very precious so can I give ths to DD or is that totally gross/ bad for her?

Can't believe I am asking this! What fun!

Give it to her. It will be fine, even when you have mastitis you need to feed through it. Letting her feed will ensure you have cleared the blockage completely.

It's fine to give her the milk (assuming you haven't left it in the sun all day!). Though I would freeze it so she doesn't skip a feed today (keeping the milk flowing is important at the moment).

It suggest that you only feel flu like symptoms with mastitis...but I have felt truly awful all day. Could a plugged duct be responsible for this?

A plugged duct can trigger mastitis so it may be you have got the beginnings of mastitis but as you have unblocked the duct self help treatment should help stop it developing any further (so keeping feeding, expressing post feed if the breast still feels full or lumpy, ibuprofen [if you can normally take it], breast massage esp, if there is any lumpy areas, etc).
