My 4mth old took bottles of expressed milk initially, butis now refusing. I have tried all the various teats , but don't want to fork out £20 on breast shaped bottle if they don't do the job! Anyone used one? Are they any good?

Haven't used one - they sound expensive, could you see if you can borrow one to see if it works? DD did same at this age, took a month of giving up, trying again, all the tricks etc. Suceeded with Nuk but I expect you've tried that one!

Had enough trouble finding one on sale. Friend suggested it and then I saw it in use on breastfeeding prog. Don't mind spending a few quid for teats, but this is a lot if it doesn't work. It has won any awards or anytning, but i guess that could be cos it's new or just rubbish!

oops, should say it hasn't won any awards

Have you tried a cup with a soft spout? I think this is ok at 4m. (not a non-spill one)

Have tried one with some success - about half of milk goes down dd face! Think it's the best method so far, altho need to find one that is clear plastic so can see milk inside!

DD will prob get the hang of it, though early days, I know! Do you have avent cups in your repertoire? I use the 4oz with their soft (4m+) spout. And a plastic backed bib LOL!

If you really want to try one why not look on ebay?

I had the same problem with DS, tried the breast bottle but he didn't really take to it - he liked chewing on the nipple bit but that was it, really. I wasn't madly impressed. Eventually I got him to take Nuk occasionally and then moved on to a sippy cup quite early as he obviously wasn't impressed by bottles in general.

Look at my other posts re breast to bottle and bottle refusers - I alway recommend the Playtesx Nurser sysytem - call their helpline 01954 719899 or visit their site www.infantcaredirect.co.uk. Go for the Naturalatch latex teat with the original nurser. If you don't like the idea of disposable their natural shape ventaire is good but the teat isn;t as soft.

bridgee, I got the breastbottle and really have to say it was rubbish. Ds3 was not ONE BIT fooled by it and it leaked all over the place! We had some success with MAM ultivent teats but he refused those after going on solids.
Completely and totally agree with Mfer on Playtex. I didn't push them at first but ds3 seemed to look at them as thought he thought they might be a good idea and then one day when my Mum was looking after him he drank 4 bottles from them. Really worth buying IMO and think the latex teat is better than the silicone teat for a breastfed baby.
