Co sleeper cot??

Hello - couldn't really find anywhere else to post this, and thought BF mums might know best on this;

I am P with my 2nd - We co slept with my first who is now 2. I didn't intentionally set out to do so, it just happened and I found it so easy to get some sleep. I was never worried about either me or DH rolling on her. Now the 2nd is on it's way in a few weeks, I have been looking for a co sleeper cot bed to attach onto ours - only thing is the decent ones seem really expensive! We can't afford to pay 200+!!! They seem to go for quite a bit on Ebay to.

I'm not so keen on having the baby in the middle of us this time as my DH has started sleeping really heavily and snoring (grrr) and now and again our 2yo comes and leaps on the bed.

Any ideas of where we can get one would be greatly appreciated:) Many thanks xxx

I got a global / brio one from ebay. Its fab as the top slides over the top. They have stopped making them but troll make the same one.

For a newborn the bednest is expensive yet fab. I got mine from someone on my local NCT yahoo group for cheaper than they go on ebay. If I had another one I wouldn't hestitate getting a new one. I might be selling one soon (my friend has it at the moment) depending on where you live pm me as I could sell to you.

Its seriously awesome and meant I got loads more sleep in the early days.

Bednest is really dear but they seem to sell on ebay for about 200, meaning you've only paid 100 for it yourself iyswim. That's what I'm aiming to do.

How's your DIY? We started off with the cheapest crib John Lewis had. Dh dropped the railing and used a couple of blocks to screw the whole thing securely to the bed. A quick google turned up Turn Your Crib Into A Cosleeper. Haven't looked at the vid but presumably it can be done! Depends if you mind not being able to move the rail back up, I guess.

The Troll co sleeper cot is beautiful but expensive. We've got one thanks to my generous family but our little ingrate has basically never slept in it. [busmile]

We also DIY a normal cot, one with a dropdown side works best as they don't rely on the tired side anyway for stability. I got ours seconed hand as well for £50.

It's in the corner off our room so we didn't need to fix it to our bed in anyway and luckly for us the high was just perfect but DH was willing to srill new holes if we needed to ajust the hight at all. Work's well for us, with DS he's our seconed to so wish I'd done it first time round we all get more sleep this way.

We bought a cotbed, so slightly more expensive than a cot, but you get longer out of it. We just took one side of the cot off and put it next to our bed and managed that way. It was great to have the extra space at the foot of the cot, I put a tray there with my drinks and snacks on it, a spare nappy and wipes, etc. It meant I never had to get out of bed to feed or change baby - luxury!

I also DIYed my DS1's cotbed, best thing I ever did. He slept through from 3 days old because of this and is a much more relaxed sleeper than DS1 ever was.

We drilled holes for the base to make sure it was the right height and stuffed the other side of the mattress with rolled up towels. Brilliant!

Another DIY effort here - can really recommend it (wooden shelf to fill the gap between the edge of my bed and DS's cot bed, stuffed with towels as others have suggested).

We bought a Mamas & Papas (can't remember the name - cosy bedside sleeper or something??? It's a full size cotbed with fold down side and I think 6 or 8 height settings and a piece to bridge the gap from bed to cot mattress) on Preloved. I looked for a couple of weeks before finding one and DH had to drive about 2 hours to collect it. I think we paid £120 for it but it was in beyond immaculate condition (not a mark on it) and came with four of the special sheets that cover the mattress and the bridge mattress piece (two still in the packet) which are ££££ alone.

I think you just have to keep an eye out on gumtree, preloved & ebay til one comes up. I would have paid anything for the Brio one but they don't make them any more so couldn't buy new and I watched ebay etc for ages and couldn't find one outside London/SE.

We used the Snuggle Nest. It's probably only good for the first three months, but it's very reasonably-priced, and the heartbeat noise/night light feature was invaluable to us.

am using an arms rest mini and it is awesome. you can get them 2nd hand on ebay for about £120. They are an eye-watering £275 new.
