advice on swapping formulas

Hi there

My DS is currently on C&G hungry baby formula after we stopped exclusively BF at 4 months. However, he never used to bring anything back when he BF and on hungry baby he seems to bring back quite a bit, not masses so as to cause alarm but more so than is normal (or what I am led to believe is normal by those with more experience!) after each feed. I was advised by a relative to put him straight onto hungry baby due to his feeding habits when BF. His weight gain is fine. He has been on hungry baby formula for about a month now and I thought maybe he was bringing so much back because he was having more than he needed (takes 210ml x 5 feeds a day at 5 months which is the recommended amount) so today I tried him on one feed of the c and g first milk and he vomitted severely and repeatedly. As I don't have anything else in the house, I have just given him his last feed as the hungry baby milk again.
So my question is this (sorry for the long post!)

Should I keep on with the C & G first milk as maybe I didnt give him chance to get used to it?

or

Keep him on C & G hungry baby milk?

or should I try to switch brands (and if so does anyone have any recommendations) We are out and about a lot so would prefer a brand that does ready made cartons for convienience but would rather do the best thing for my son.
Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks

Sometimes when they have wind they can posset as the wind comes up. Is that it perhaps?

Do you use infacol and wind him regularly when bottle feeding? The other thing I was thinking, is that that does sound like a lot to drink in one go. Does he drink it all?

Mine are now age 3 and 4 and both were breast and then bottle fed.

Colief drops are always worth a thought but rather pricey. You can buy them in Pharmacies.

I would stick with the first milk for now. It shouldn't have made him posset more than hungry imo. But perhaps someone else will be along soon with better advice.

Thanks for your advice. I guess it could just be posseting, but more than the 'average' baby does. He did used to have colic when he was younger and I tried infacol and colief, neither of which seemed to work for us (we found gripe water was the only thing that helped). Perhaps I'll try some infacol then and see if it helps with the posseting. He does drink it all in one go and refuses to be winded. If I try to take the bottle out of his mouth to wind him he screams until I put it back in everytime (and no wind comes up when he's screaming) Ive been told by friends that they've never seen another baby like it! This is one of the reasons by I've stayed with hungry baby for so long as I've assumed that it's hunger that makes him this way. Although now I'm maybe starting to wonder if it isn't just his Daddy's temper that he has inherited! Wink

Oh my son had terrible colic, lasted for 10 weeks and it was hellish. Do you think he thinks the tummy pains are hunger and it is wind? Could changing bottle to Dr Browns help?

I used to feed DD C & G Comfort milk because the proteins are partially digested so it was easier for her to digest. It doesn't come in cartons but I used the C&G first milk cartons when we were out and about because they also have partially digested proteins because the milk is altered during the UHT process.
