My 7 week old is sleeping for longer stretches at night, she slept last night for 5.5 hours- 6 hours. Is it ok at this age? I mnow my last baby was feedjng every 2-3 hours at this age and the other thing is the feeds were MUCH longer. My current baby feeds for maybe 10 minutes she seems satisfied but its so short my last baby was feeding for at least 30 mins at night at this age each time.
I have had some twinges etc and spotting which makes me feel that my period is starting up again which didnt happen with my last baby at all - i got pregnant when she was 10 months old before ever having a period.

Is this too long to go at 7 weeks, im wondering if i need to wake her up to feed ? She was 9 pounds 1 last week she was 6 pounds exactly at birth. She seems to be having wet and dirty nappies as you would expect.

So do i enjoy the sleep or set an alarm to wake for a feed?

If she's doing enough wet/dirty nappies and gaining weight okay, I'd say let her sleep. My DD started sleeping 8hr stretches from 4.5 weeks, she now regularly sleeps 9-11hrs per night, last night was 13hrs! I've found however that she feeds every hour when she's awake though and she will only sleep 30-40 mins per sleep during the day. Today she woke at 11am after going down at 10pm and I fed her 6 times in 2hrs on waking!
At my 6 week check I asked the HV if I should be waking her and she said not to as she was gaining weight so well.
I haven't come across many EBF babies that sleep like my DD does so really enjoy. Oh and if you're going to tell people in RL be prepared for some evil looks Wink

Oh and on the feed length question, by that stage my DD was taking about that amount of time to do a full feed. Now at 13wks she's down to 15mins. Is her poo the right colour?

Dont wake her abd enjoy the sleep

Envy ( mum to nearly 8 wk old twins who between them dont let me go for longer than 3 hrs)

Sleep away then but be prepared for growth spurts! That's the only time so far in her tiny life of 13 weeks when she's woken in the night for a feed and it's a helluva shock to the system. Am also dreading if she regresses at 4 months. Oh and also be prepared for increased feeding during the day, mine feeds every hour, sometimes more but only very occasionally less and 2hrs is her limit.

Claire Congrats on twins! My SIL's son only goes 3hrs at most and she's knackered. She always say if she could just get 4hrs in a row she could handle it better and I found the same. 4hrs stretches were workable, 3hr stretches were killers.

My DD is also 7 weeks old and I was going to post about exactly the same question! She is cluster feeding all evening and regularly during the day (anything from 1-4 hrs between feeds) then sleeping long stretches at night - in fact last week she slept 8 hrs for 3 nights in a row. Each feed is usually about 20 mins but when she does wake at night (only once if at all) she only feeds for about 10 mins then falls asleep again. I was worrying that it may not be enough and was worrying about my supply more than anything, as I was really engorged in the mornings for the first few days of this and now am not any more, but she has put on plenty of weight (7lb12 at birth, was 10lb5 when last weighed on Thursday), has loads of very wet and dirty nappies every day and generally seems very content. My DS was at least 12-13 weeks before he started going any longer than 3-4 hours between feeds & each feed used to last up to an hour so I think we are just very lucky this time and to be honest I am just enjoying it! While it lasts anyway...no doubt there will be a growth spurt just around the corner!
