Can you increase milk supply at certain times?

DS2 is 8wks and we'd tried to get a bedtime routine going but have given up as he seems to need to cluster feed all evening STILL. It really feels like there's nothing there (I know this isn't really the case, but they do feel so empty) and even if he sucks 'til 10pm, he still wakes at 1am on the dot.

If I pump in the evenings will it boost evening supply? I'm feeding him on demand throughout the day, and because he only naps for 45min at a time (whooole other thread, gah) it's pretty much every two hours. He's a quick feeder.

Any ideas?

The best way to inccrese supply is to feed him more.

To be honist he sounds like totaly normal 8week old behavour. Baby's often don't settale into a earlier bedtime till 3-4months old.

You may feel like there is less milk there but the milk will be higher in fat content espicaly at this sort of time in the evenings. This is helping him go that extra hour at night and hopefully as he gets older will help him go longer.

How often do you switch sides while he's cluster feeding? You could try switching as soon as he comes off the first side offer the seconed, this will help increase supply. You can also pump after a feed but if he's feeding all evening when would you get the time to pump? Also he is far more efficent then a breastpump so feeding more is the best approach.
