Wind waking baby up....

My DD is 16 weeks and has been a great sleep until fairly recently. She's now waking at least twice a night, and I am fairly sure it is wind - as she is farting for all she's worth, apologies for too much information - as opposed to hunger, but Ii nevitably end up feeding her to get her back to sleep. She's breastfed, except for a bottle as a dreamfeed that I've started in the last week or two. Any suggestions? I want my sleep back! Thanks.

gripe water - smells horrid but does the job. If the no sleep/dreamfeed are co-inciding she is probably gulping in too much air from the bottle feed.

I think they are. Do I get gripe water in Boots? Off to find out...

Is the dream feed her first lot of formula she's had? If so the wind could be because of that. The cows milk can cause mild intolerances (wind etc) through to more severe reactions as its harder to digest.

Try stopping the dream feed for a week and see if the wind subsides. If it does, you're better off either expressing or give it straight from source (ie boob)
However you're approaching the 4 month sleep regression so sleep goes pants anyway!

Iggly - do all 4 month olds start sleeping terribly?! I noticed DS is starting to wake up twice a night and previously was once or even sleeping through!

Iknowanoldlady - the only thing I can suggest is lots of tummy time, it helps DS wriggle out his farts! Also if you 'pedal' little ones legs as if they're cycling and then push knees to the chest this can help squeeze out a fart! DS had lots of farts, but seems to have improved now he's more active!

Cheers Cherry, I will try more tummy time tomorrow.

I don't know about all but it's very common! It's something to do with sleep patterns changing, plus a growth spurt plus a developmental leap around that age. Most babies go from doing nothing to grabbing, rolling, sitting between 4-6 months so a lot of mental and physical development.

Iggly you'd think it would knacker them out and they'd sleep better with all the new tricks they're learning! Agh, at least it's Friday, DH can take a turn at the night time feeds tonight : o
