BFing and Hay Fever

Thought this would've been asked already but can't find it so apologies if it has!

Hay Fever started with a vengeance yesterday, I live in a rural area and suffer badly. Usually I just suffer and only take tablets when really bad, which it is ATM. My dd is EBF.

I took a zirtek yesterday just to be able to function and now I've read on the packet I shouldn't take it when Bfing d'oh...

  1. Is there an alternative that I can take?
  2. What are the effects on the baby - is it just that it makes them drowsy? (I have a baby who doesn't sleep so actually....!)

My hay fever is actually interning with the bfing anyway - I wouldn't want to eat off a plate that was jumping 2ft in the air every 20 seconds, bless her. And we can forget trying to feed to nap/sleep which is what we usually do.

Thanks!

Interested to follow this thread as mine is kicking in too. My usual remedy isn't compatible with pregnancy (last year) or breastfeeding (this year - argh!!)

BTW can babies get hayfever? DS is rubbing and rubbing his nose and eyes but isn't tired so I'm not sure what that could be?

The best remedy I've found for hay fever was being pregnant! I still suffered last year but nowhere near as bad as normal, which is just as well given the pelvic floor issues!!

My midwife told me no pills, only sprays like Beconase. In my opinion, it is not as effective :-(
