Struggling with leaking and breast pads. Still only 26 weeks pg!

I did leak during my first pregnancy and gushed continually for the first few months after she was born. I think I still needed breast pads for about a year, although was only leaking a few drops by then.

I spent a fortune on disposable breastpads and don't want to use them again.

Has anyone got on well with washables. So far I've got a few pairs from 'weenotions' that are triple layered with a soft cotton fabric next to the skin. They seem to be full (heavy) by the end of a day and smell quite a lot. I've also got a pair of pure wool ones (expensive!) that I've worn for a couple of nights. They seem to hold the leaks well but are leaving the skin around my nipples quite red and blotchy.

I know this is all trivial in the grand scheme of things and will have to work out a way of coping once I'm actually feeding (it was a case of stuffing my bra with whatever I could find while feeding from the other side with DD, and I can't remember what I did to protect the mattress!). Perhaps disposables are the answer but I'm willing to spend a bit on reusable if anyone has found really good ones.

I have a set of the mothercare ones which are OK.
Also I really liked lilypadz and thought they worked well but found them annoying when feeding in public so stopped using them. They maybe useful now as you wont want to take them off and on a lot.

I've found that lansionh disposable breast pads are the best! I have a generous about of milk and 19 wks down the line I still leak! They are great and have not had any problems at all! I've tried and tested many many on the Market and these are by far the best ones!

I have never tried washable ones before! Might have to look into that one!! Can anyone recommend good washable breast pads?

I was wondering if you ever sorted this out? I into my third week after birth and leak so badly, it looks like someone has thrown half a pint of milk down me a few times a day. Not a good look, and I feel really unattractive because I can't seem to stay clean for long and I have had to resort to cutting up disposable nappies and sticking them down my bra - very bulky and very ugly :O( It feels like there is no point trying to look nice as within half an hour I am wet and sticky again - I basically live in pyjamas.

Any advice?

I have Boots washables which are fine but I'm not terribly leaky at the moment.

Remember if you do use washables that they need to be washed a few times before use to increase absorbency!

I love the laniosh disposable ones as well
I seem to have sooooo much milk at some points that these have been great!
I too have stuffed Muslins/flannels etc over the other boob while feeding
And have to have a muslin tucked under my boob incase ds comes off

Boots washables were good for me. As they're a little thicker than disposables they can be seen through thin tops initially but after some washes they get softer. Never leaked through them.

A long time ago when I had my DCs, I suffered with this problem and went on to have oversupply once they were born.

The hospital gave me some breast shells like these which made life a lot easier. Mine used to collect 2oz (50ml) and I'd empty them twice from the non feeding boob in the 5 minutes I'd allow my DCs to feed each side . (Any longer and they'd be too full and puke it all up again).
