What are the best android breastfeeding apps

Just want a really easy app for my phone that lets me one-click to choose which side, and one-click to start/pause/stop.

Ideally I want to be able to save the info so I can see how it's all adding up later.

I've seen exactly this on a mate's iPhone but I only have a Samsung android-y type phone.

TIA!

I use Baby Connect. I use this app for everything - her nappies, sleeps etc. Really helps me keep track of what we should be doing next! x

ElmMum- what exactly do you need it to do? It's not essential to time or schedule feeds :) Do you have any nearby breastfeeding support groups?

RightUpMyRue · 15/03/2012 18:18

The best app for this is your baby. Look at her and see what she wants. Smile

Before I found an app for my phone (babylog on iPhone, not sure if there is an android equivalent) I used to carry a notebook and write down feeds, naps and nappies Blush I could never remember which side I had fed from or for how long!

To start with I found it reassuring to see whether he was feeding and weeing/pooing enough (using nipple shields), then since he went through the 4 month sleep regression I was trying to spot patterns in his (appalling) sleep. Now in the last 2 months I've been using it to work out a rough routine for nursery.

Ah, I remember writing lists down with ds with the timings of every feed! Well just for a week or two then it sorted itself out and I stopped bothering. An ap would've been easier, but still really not necessary. This time I hope just to use a bracelet I'll swap wrist to wrist, as it is quite easy to forget which side you used last.

The breast poke and crying baby app worked well for me. Much better than getting caught up in worrying about gaps between feeds/feed lengths.

ElmMum · 15/03/2012 19:15

Ah yes, I remember the MN breastfeeding board. Always lots of people ready to question why you want to know something rather than just give an answer to your question!!

I want an app because with DD1 I got much better latch and flow on the right side than the left and it ended up being a very one-sided affair. This time I'm determined to get the latch better on the left and try to get it pumping away at the same rate as the trusty right side. I'm only on day 3 with DD2 but already I'm seeing a similar difference between the sides.

I just want a quick easy way to see how much time I'm spending on each side without clock-watching throughout each feed.

Thanks for the answers, those that recommended an app as requested!

(And if this seems a snippy response, blame lack of sleep!)

Not heard of a a bfing app so can't help with that but may be able to help you with the feeding better from one side issue as we had this with DC1 and sorry, yes I know that's not what you asked Grin.

DC1 fed much better on the right side once I changed the position I fed him in, have a look at postions here, he fed better with the football hold but only had to use it for a short while and soon he fed from both sides more or less equally.

If you are already seeing a difference it's probably worth mentioning to your MW as she may have some tips too.

Congratulations on your new DD Smile

There are some benefits to timing feeds. I do it so I can complain to DH how long I have been pinned to the sofa, so he brings drinks and chocolate. Smile

Well Elm if you don't put all the info in your OP the responses may not be what you're looking for!

Eglu · 15/03/2012 20:38

I didn't know such apps existed. Would have been good for the early days for me.

Agree with jilted that rugby hold works weel for a baby that won't altch as well on one side. DD was like this and was much better in rugby hold, until I got feeding more established.

COCKadoodledooo · 15/03/2012 20:40

I just had a simple wrist band/bracelet thing that I'd swap from one wrist to the other, in the very beginning at least. Never timed feeds though.

Eglu · 15/03/2012 21:26

cockadoodle I did that for sides, as I could not remember at all which side to feed from in the beginning. Sleep deprivation is hard. Grin
