Greedy 4mo refusing food

Hello, will try to keep this succinct...

My lovely 4mo daughter likes her food. She is formula fed (couldn't bf for health reasons) and has vomited quite a lot since birth, suspected to be due to reflux and a bit of over eating.

A few days ago she started fussing at the bottle and pushing it out with her tongue. She shows no other symptoms of teething, we tried her on the next teat size up for a couple of days but she just wasn't coping with it well and we're now back on size 1s.

Today has been the worst so far, she seems in quite a good mood when not feeding but a bit more sicky than usual and this evening decided to start shouting (not in distress just like she was trying to communicate!) rather than taking her bottle... Weird...

We think she could just be a bit under the weather but not sure if we're missing something. Any suggestions (we're facing another night of terrible sleep as she keeps waking up hungry and then refusing the bottle)?

Thanks in advance!

I bet it is teeth you know, they can shift about for months before anything appears. My son went from 3.5 months to just over 6 months in intermittent pain before the buggers first appeared and he fussed over both breast and bottle. Around 16 weeks we were dispairing until we gave in and dosed him up on nurofen and teething gel before a feed. It made a huge difference.

Thanks Pascha, we tried the Calpol (which was a struggle as she'll only take it in her feed!!) and things seem to have improved a bit. Since the post she's also obviously developed cold symptoms so it's prob a mixture of that and those awkward teeth!

Thanks for the advice, we'll plough on with this approach for the mo and hope it continues improving!

Oh good. Try teething gel a few minutes before a feed as well. Nurofen is sometimes better than calpol as it's anti-inflammatory and the branded stuff comes with a syringe which is useful.

Nurofen is sometimes better as anti-inflammtory but as it contains ibuprofen it can trigger asthma too, so be careful if you have asthma in the family. :)

I only learnt that recently even tho we have quite a few asthma sufferers in my family. Blush
