Can I freeze carton formula?

My 5 month old is EBF and flatly refuses to take a bottle. I am gently trying to get her to accept it filled with very small amounts of expressed breast milk at the moment, but as I am rubbish at expressing and would never get enough for a full feed she also needs to get used to the taste of formula.
I would like to offer her small amounts of formula, but don't want to waste the remainder of the cartons. Is it possible to freeze it in ice cube trays? She will still be fully bf so I am not worried about losing nutrients, it is just a case of whether it will go bad or taste funny.

She has in the past taken formula in a bottle, but we only offered it to her a few times and the last time we did, about a month ago she decided that breast really was best and she wouldn't take anything less!

If anyone has any tips for getting babies to take a bottle they would be gratefully welcomed.

Why not buy a small can of formula? The cartons work out very expensive. Have you tried different teats? I found that the only thing ds would drink out of was a trainer cup. Messy. Sad

Personally I find the powdered formula tastes nicer and marginally more like BM than carton formula which has a weird wheaty aftertaste not that I check bottle temp by having a slurp, oh no sirree bob

If you buy a small tin you can just make it up an ounce or so at a time as needed.

I have looked into this and it still needs to be used within a month. I only want to give her the occasional bottle if I need to leave her so would never get through a whole tin. I also already have a few 'emergency' cartons in the cupboard. Complete waste of space as she wont drink them anyway. Even carted them all the way to Oz and back 'just in case'. Glad I used my baggage allowance for this completely pointless and heavy purpose.

no I dont think you can freeze formula but if you used it in cooking you could freeze it then e.g. in mashed potatoes, cheese sauce, etc

Interesting that you say the powder tastes differently. Might give it a go to see if she prefers the taste. Although as she is refusing breast milk in the bottle too I doubt this will resolve things.

Why are they so stubborn?

I have been invited to a wedding in 5 weeks that I will need to leave her for most of the day for which is what we are practising for. I really would like to go as I haven't been ANYWHERE without her in 5 months. I need to get a life beyond bfing!
