BF'ing once a day

DD is 14 months old and still bf. Most days she only ever asks for her morning feed and is far too busy to want it the rest of the time, she sometimes has a feed in the evening. Can you maintain supply when only feeding once per day? x

I did for three months or so. Then we both sort of got fed up (me more than her, to be fair) so I forced the issue and stopped when she was 15 months. Supply wasn't the issue, but it stopped feeling like a breastfeeding relationship, if you see what I mean.

Yes that makes sense WheresVinick, I don't mind the morning feed as it at least it gives me chance to wake up a little before starting the day even though it usually feels like the middle of the night Angry

Once breastfeeding is as established as yours will be, I don't think it will be a problem. DD1 dropped to one feed a day at about 16 months or so (iirc) and carried on until she was about 21 months (when my supply dropped abruptly with pregnancy and she self weaned).

I've successfully been feeding just once a day for 2 months now (DS is 16 months).

DS had a nursing strike just after new year when he didn't want to feed at all, and then decided that he would still have his morning feed but none at night.

It works well and means that both me and DH get to take part in the morning routine before we go to work.

I fed DS once a day for about a year - he had just a bedtime feed from about 14 months to 2.4 years (though with odd nights 'off' when I was out/away). I think when your supply is sorted you can feed comfortably like that for as long as you like. I figured that as DS still benefited from it nutritionally as well as for comfort, I was happy to keep going and it reduced my guilt for working full time .
