Bottle warmers

Thinking about getting a bottle warmer...was wondering if they basically took any bottle. We're currently warming in microwave and shaking, but I'm very paranoid I'll forget to shake...
At the moment we're using medela bottles, but am thinking of switching to the TT Closer to Nature BUT,
I'm liking the look of the philips avent digital warmer better...
Do they all take any bottle, or am I better of getting the TT one (assuming she likes the TT bottles?).

We can see this thread is quite old now so a few of the suggestions may be outdated, but we’ve recently refreshed our best bottle warmers page with plenty of great options loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful.

I'm not sure exactly which bottle warmer does what but my friends have the tommie tippee one and they said that they still have to time it, shake the bottle and check it so IMO its a waste of money & just a gadget.

I personally warm a bottle in hot water from the kettle in a jug and i'm sure if you just get into the habit of shaking and testing the bottle before giving it it doesnt take long before its second nature. Along the same lines of testing the water in the bath - you would always put your hand in first before just putting the baby in :)

I don't think the larger CTN will fit in an avent warmer. I just tried a little one that I have to fill my steriliser with and it was tight. Rather than shake after microwaving you could swirl/swill. That reduces air bubbles that they get from shaking, you still need to swirl with bottle warmers as they heat from outside in so middle can be cold x

Try a Yoomi - it's a self warming bottle www.yoomi.com/

We have a philips avent digital warmer and that works fine with medela bottles.

The warmer has a little flap on the top for tall bottles. Don't know about whether TT bottles fit - I guess it depends on their width.

But we still have to swirl the bottle and check the temperature. And if you leave the bottle in too long (you're meant to remove it as soon as the timer beeps) it can get too hot.

We warm the water in the microwave first then put the powder in. I am thinking that then the water is at a hot enough temp to kill the bacteria in the powder plus putting the powder in after means you have to shake so avoiding hot spots.
We have a tomee tipee warmer in the bedroom which is a pita as it takes ages!

Ah, I should clarify. Thanks to Colief we're making up in advance, 12h lots (I know, bad parenting), so the feed's already made with boiling water, then fridged, then warmed in the microwave for 20-30 seconds on need...

Thanks for all the advice. Think I might not bother with a warmer then. Can't say I've missed shaking it yet, but then I seem to have a very good baby that likes to sleep (I do realise I've probably just cursed it), even if it is with me at the moment.
