Is this a safe way to make up bottles?

I am so confused.I am trying to avoid making every feed from scratch on demand.

Could I make up say three or four feeds with boiling water, adding the powder and skaing them and then put them all in the fridge or cool them all down under cold running water. And then warm each of them up in the microwave as and when I need them (eg every 2-3 hours)?

yes you can make them like you say with hot water, then cool quickly under a tap and then refrigerate and then heat up as needed, either by placing in a jub of hot water or in the microwave, just shake to avoid hot spots :)

its not meant to be boiling water tho its meant o be 70+ but freshly boiled is too hot and not good for the nutrients? Confused

If you cool them down in an ice bath (or use ice packs in a bowl of fridge cold water) making sure the water doesn't reach other the neck of the bottles or under running water then yes it's safe(r) than making up with cold water (not as safe as making fresh each time but an acceptable compromise).

Don't add hot things to the fridge as they will raise the temp of the fridge which isn't safe for everything else in the fridge, cool first before putting in.

If you microwave the bottles make sure you shake throughly so there aren't any hot spots in the milk before giving it to baby.

If baby is a newborn, ready to feed cartons are the safest bet.

i put mine in a bowl that is not as high as the bottles so the neck and the lid are out of the water then leave a running tap on so its going into the bowl. they cool donw in a few mins then and could then be refrigerated and heated when needed :)

Great - thanks. So much easier than making them 'fresh' each time - I can't see myself doing that!

I don't understand why making fresh would take up a alot of time though?

It's a little bit longer than making a cup of tea.No one makes 4 cups of tea in advance then warms as required Confused

Making/cooling/reheating risks your baby getting D&V or ( extremely rarely) worse infections. Using the liquid would be better - it's sterile (powder isn't) and you can decant into bottles and store them in the fridge
