Where can I find bras with enough support to run?

I have big boobs anyway and they're even bigger whilst I'm breast feeding. I really want to start running but can't because I don't have support, is there such a bra that can provide this (doesn't need to actually be a feeding bra as I could just wear it for running).

Or is it unrealistic to think I can run whilst breastfeeding?

TIA

You need a shock absorber running bra. The high impact one.

CelticPromise · 20/02/2012 17:00

No not at all! I ran and played sports while BFing.

My boobs are fairly large (34G) and I have just bought the Panache sports bra from lessbounce.com, it's fab. If you want something really solid I recommend the Enell, but it does give you a uniboob.

Shock Absorber High Impact (Debenhams or Bravissimo). £££, about £35, but excellent.

M&S High Impact Sports Bra also v good (and I usually hate M&S bras) and about £20.

I am the proud Hmm owner of a pair of 36DDs.

Sportjock bras are brilliant, and as they fit underbust and then a range of cup sizes, it doesn't matter if you go up a bit or down a bit while still feeding.

The D3 is particually good if you are large of nork.

Agree with lessbounce and Shock Absorber.

They are a fecking curse when it comes to running.

SenoritaViva · 20/02/2012 17:04

Brilliant! So relieved that I don't just have to stick to walking!

SecondTime - I love the idea of needing a shock absorber for my them!

Thanks Celticpromise, we're about the same size (small ribs, giant boobs!) and I wasn't sure if it was realistic.

Also agree with less bounce and Shock absorber. I got my shock absorber from Bravissimo - I need DH to fasten me into it, can hardly breathe for first 5 moons til I get used to it, but boy it is as solid as a rock! I can jump up and down with no movement!

Good luck running OP

MsWeatherwax · 20/02/2012 17:29

Seconding the Panache. I have to be fastened into it too, but I love it so much I bought two.

Pudgy2011 · 20/02/2012 17:43

Used to run quite a bit before getting upduffed, was a 32e and wore the Ta Ta tamer by Lulu Lemon, which was ok.

Sproglet is now nearly 5 months and I had to get the Enell bra in my santa stocking as my girls are a porn star 34G now and running is hardly fun at all when all you want to do is go to sleep, let alone drag a fat ass, flabby stomach and giant out of control boobs around a 4 mile loop. But I definitely recommend the Enell as it gives a really solid support. I think maybe I'll dig it out and go for a run tonight she says knowing full well she'll be found lying inert on the sofa at 7pm picking lint out of her belly button

AlmaMartyr · 20/02/2012 17:55

I use this one for my 34JJ. Not the nicest looking but I can run in it with hardly any bounce. I used it while I was still breastfeeding as well so not unrealistic! It's the only one I've found in this size, can't wait till they go down a few cup sizes and I can have more choice.

agendabender · 20/02/2012 21:57

just joined mumsnet to ask exactly this question, thanks ladies! I'm in a similar position 34G/32GG depending on brand. Can I ask, does the firm pressure of a sports bra have a negative effect on supply, or doesn't that make sense? Is there anywhere I can get fitted that's cheaper than bravissimo? I live near Cambridge.

milkandnosugar · 21/02/2012 12:13

Have been back running since ds2 was 5 months, I started with a combination of nursing bra under shock absorber (currently about 36g) now just shock absorber.
I can honestly say it makes no difference to my milk supply, but i tend to try and feed just before I go out (for my comfort mainly). Shock absorbers are all pretty much the same price but i have found that they are sometimes on sale in debenhams and john lewis.

DorisIsWaiting · 21/02/2012 12:27

I have recently started running again and got shock absorber.

It has a double set of hooks and eyes on the back (one in the normal place and other set half way up the back ) It is HUGELY more comforatable that my old shock absorber and the weight is not pulled down through the shoulders.

Oh and I had to go up to a H cup (normally a G) so don't be surprised if you need a bigger size.

DW123 · 21/02/2012 19:46

I prefer compression style rather than cup so I go for sportjock or thurslo. Also have a fab one by pearl izumi but don't know model. I feed first and its been fine (lifesaver for my sanity). Have a good run!
