I've done 3 months of breastfeeding ds1 overcoming early pain and ten days in nicu. But breastfeeding takes a lot of stamina doesn't it? Nights are getting more disturbed rather than less! Do you pros out there have any words of wisdom to keep me going?

You are doing the very best for your baby and have achieved something only a small amount of mums do. You will probably regret it if u give up know. I am ebf ing my 4 m dd3 and I know how hard it is. I gave up with dd2 and it hounds me still :-(

You've just got to the easy bit you've overcome all that really hard tiny baby bit. Baby can now latch on like a pro and you don't have to make a bottle in the middle of the night (most baby's are still waking at this age) so you are actually getting a bit more sleep then your bottle feeding peers.

I don't think BF takes a lot of stamina I think having a new baby takes a lot of stamina, BF at lest give's you the perfect tool to seatel your baby no matter what the situation.

I'm at 3 months too and he's gone back to waking every 2 or 3 hours at night - I think they have a growth spurt at 3 months though?

And as previous poster says, bf can be much easier when they wake a lot. You don't have to get up n faff with bottles and you get some nice hormones to enable you to get straight back to sleep after.

Have a look at all that you have achieved so far Smile.

Agree with the others that its having a new baby that is te killer, not the bfing and at least you have all those benefits for yourself and the baby.

If sleep is the issue have a read of the No Cry Sleep Solution or 31 Ways to Get Your Baby to Sleep and Stay Asleep.

Like the others have said though, however you feed your baby they would probably be waking at this age anyway and if you stop bfing you've just removed the best way to get LO and yourself back off to sleep and this could well be a growth spurt.

I was quite desperate when my ds was that age. Couldn't wait for the 4 month mark so i could start introducing solids! But then things settled and ebfed till 6mo. He is 10 months now and i am still bfing and not planning to give up. He loves it so much! He laughs and crawls very fast towards me when he sees breasts and claps his hands and gives me cuddles afterwards. It is the most amazing feeling! Don't miss out!
