Goldfarb breastfeeding management site

...before I had DS. It would have saved so much heartache.

Very interested to see if other keen BF'ers have come across it. I know next to nothing about BFing, but it just makes so much sense.

Just almost keeled over laughing at this one:

"Physically, the baby is going to be a mess, what with all the illnesses s/he will experience as a result of not being breastfed."

Please. Yes, yes, breast is best but this really is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever read!

And whether the 'I want my body back' is valid or not, I rather think the Dr has missed the point!

  1. "I want my body back" While some mothers do feel 'touched out', this is going to happen regardless of how you feed. Babies and children want to be held, hugged and cuddled, in fact, there is a real, physiological need for touch. No matter if you give a bottle from birth, you should still hold babies for all of their feedings. You will also want to hold your baby for comfort and then later in life you will spend countless hours with a toddler and then a child sitting on your lap. Humans thrive on contact. If they don't get it, they don't grow. My experience caring for other babies tells me that it?s a lot easier to hug and cuddle a baby while nursing than bottlefeeding.

'My experience caring for other babies tells me that it's a lot easier to hug and cuddle a baby while nursing than bottlefeeding'

Oh my poor deprived boys.

Sorry, am LMAO at this site! I know what it's trying to do and that's perfectly valid but it's very badly done!

Ah, skipped over the 'why breastfeed' bit, cos I'm already convinced

Where is this particular gem??

Half way down the front page there it says 'I was raised on formula and I'm fine' - since I was I thought I'd have a look and there are lots of sort of questions and then answers. some of them are hilarious!

I'm all for promoting breastfeeding - obviously it's the 'best' way to feed a baby but, honestly, some of the stuff I read about formula feeding or some of the very tenuous advantages of breast feeding just has me in stitches!

Ah yes: hadn't followed all the external links. Not very keen on scaring the pants off bottlefeeding mothers (since I used to have a - partial - foot in that camp myself).

But what really excited me about this site was the quality of the technical information about how to get latch, how to get the best possible start after birth to help bf'ing, why some babies resist bf'ing - as my ds did, and no-one believed that he couldn't just somehow magically sort it out for himself .

I agree GDG, Im pleased I wasnt aware of this site when I was advised that I shouldnt BF.

Gizmo · 25/01/2006 13:29

Ah I can see I have mistitled this thread...it should have been: 'Breastfeeders - lots of useful information here'

Although as I say, since I both breast and bottlefed, I thought it might be interesting to all
