8m old just started having formula - now seems to have slight excema?

ds is eight months and I've just started giving him 2/3 formula feeds a day, so I'm only bfing first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

since I started with formula he seems to be developing slight excema behind his knees, in his elbows and under his arms. i guess it might be the cold weather or something else, but it does seem to have coincided with the start of the formula.

has anyone else had this? might it be worth changing brand (we're using a Farleys one at the moment)? or might it be better to use cows milk, which he has been having in some of his meals since six months and doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

Could be coincidence since the weather has just changed , air humidity dropped and you probably have central heating on .

It could be the formula but it isn't a good idea to replace fromula with cows milk as it doesn't have the right balance of nutrients your baby needs. What does your HV say? Maybe best to try another brand?

Probably coincidence. I did similar to you, bf dd until 7 months then mixed bf and formula. Dd now gets a slight touch of excema in the cold weather, E45 lotion and Oilatum in the bath keeps it under control. It goes again in the summer. I didn't even know it was excema until I commented on her dry skin to the doctor who looked at it and said it was excema. I read somewhere (don't know how true this is) that if it doesn't itch they're more likely to grow out of it.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully it is just a coincidence (although I live in rural France so can rule out the central heating - would have loved it today as it is freezing here). I might try another brand of formula as I don't think ds is particularly attached to the one we're using.

Disslocated - really hoping that I have the same experience as you. I had been feeling really lucky that we didn't have excema to contend with before this started - it would be great if it's only occasional.
