Baby whisperer and breastfeeding

Im reading the baby whisperer and want to know. Of any other breastfeeding moms who have read and followed the routines in this book my daughters 5 months and still eats every two hours if she makes it that long and goes to bed at 7 and wakes up every hour to cluster feed till around 10 or11 but goes right back to sleep after every feeding then wakes around 3 and then 7 up for the day I'm just wondering because she says to go 3 and 4 hours in between feedings and to not feed during the night and I'm wondering if that's more tailored to bottle feeding or if any other mothers of hungry baby's followed this routine and it worked for them my main reason for the book was the easy routine so that she will learn to fall asleep on her own

Wow. 12 hours sleep at night. I might be tempted to try it if that's possible... How did you "space" out the feeds? Ie - if you already were feeding 10mins after feeding/ 30 min/ hour later as I sometimes am how do you go from that to every 2 and a half hours?

Thanks :)

She sleeps good to me (1 hour) the book says 1.5 to 2 hours or whatever so that's not a big issue she's happy when she's awake so I feel she sleeps fine and she only gets up once or twice at night after I go to bed Its really just the cluster feeds I don't mind them but now that I'm doing nails I can't get away long enough to do a set and I hear they should sleep 12 by 6 months it sounds more like a dream than reality but it would be nice

With child no 1 I'm not sure I knew any breastfeeding mums who slept through at 6 months. Most were still feeding every 2 hours at a year!

I just did everything I possibly could think of to keep her awake during feeds (jiggling, sitting her up tickling feet, undressing her a bit). After feeds I then tried to keep her awake even if just for 5 mins by changing nappy/clothes, singing/talking, toys etc. Then gradually tried to eek the awake time gaps between feeds out more and more, and do what I could to encourage longer periods of sleep between feeds with Dd going to sleep without a feed, only possible initially as a result of long walks with pram!

As sleep got better, feeds automatically became more effective, and therefore became less regular. I still cluster fed between 5pm and 7pm though for quite a while. Bf Dd until she was 12m.

I wouldn't have a problem cluster feeding 5 to 7 that would be ideal it's cluster feeding 7 to 10 that's keeping me from getting things done

I don't know if a routine actually stops cluster feeding though. Babies just do what they like and they grow out of things in their own time without you doing anything. Sometimes you might just think all that hard work in forcing a routine works, but it's just your baby growing up.

FWIW I didn't do anything and DD stopped cluster feed before 3mo. She's a early sleeper and early riser. She just got herself into 6-6 bedtime. I tried to keep her awake longer in the evening but it didnt work. She just gets grumpy.
