Dropping bottles, or just not bother?

My DS is 9 months and having stopped bf a couple of months ago, he's now on four ff a day.

I make up 7oz (210) but he prob only drinks between 150ls-180mls each time - so about 600mls in a day. Should I consider dropping it to three feeds? Or do I just keep on going...he does tend to look forward to the bottle and we have a fairly good routine.

Saying that, on a funny day yesterday (odd wake ups etc) he ended up eating WAY more brekkie as he had a massive gap between milk and food. And whilst he's established on three meals a day now, he can be a bit hit and miss.

He has cows milk with his cereal and then has cheese, yoghurts etc during the day. So I am pretty sure he's getting his dairy fill!

My gut (boom boom) says leave it. But when should I start to try and reduce his milk. And how?

TIA

I think they say a pint a day at this age ie 500-600ml, which includes yogurt and milk on/in cereal & other recipies. So you are offering plenty/ possibly a little much if you think it might be affecting his appetite.

You could try offering less per feed (not drinking all anyway), or maybe best drop down to 3 feeds of 6 or 7oz and should still be getting plenty and you could see whether his appetite for solids improves.

It's actually 500ml of formula, excluding dairy. Otherwise you will need to start supplementing with vitamin drops. See http://www.nhs.uk/Planners/birthtofive/Pages/Vitamins.aspx

Thanks for advice. He's had eff all milk or food today and was only offered 3 bottles. Think he's going through a phase, but planning to give him three bottles from now on. See what happens. If he starts waking in the night then I know that he needs more milk!
