I'm feeding my 11wk old dd and after an initially painful first two weeks I've had no problems and am absolutley loving it :)

Obviously dd not talking yet ( well if you don't count a-goo ) but I'm just wondering about your Los names for your breastmilk/boobies.

Did you encourage the choice or was it their own creation ? Any regrets , recommendations ??

"Breasts" and "milk" here too. When he started drinking cow's milk I thought we should probably have different terms for each to avoid confusion. So when he asked for milk I tried to clarify by asking if he wanted "mummy milk". He was very indignant and said, "No, that's MY milk" so we ended up with "milk" and "fridge milk".

Wallace · 09/02/2012 19:39

We have always called it "sookies", When ds3 (14months) says it it sounds more like "sssthss"

Dd used to say "sides?" to ask for a bf. As in "swap sides!

stuffthenonsense · 09/02/2012 19:44

Gormless, we have milk and fridgemilk too, at 20months.
My guess for the mummy/daddy booby is a co_sleeper and daddy boob is daddy's side of the bed....would love to know!

First time poster here, long time lurker particularly on Breast and Bottlefeeding, but really wanted to share DD3's special name. DD2 just called it Mummy's milk. DD2 (who was 2.7yo when DD3 was born) has always been a grazer, and would ask for a snack every hour or so. Whenever we did this I would breastfeed DD3 so she naturally assumed that Mummy's milk was her snack. So DD3 has always called it "snack snack". DD3 is still breastfeeding aged 3.4yo. The sweetest thing she has ever said was a couple of months ago when she said " Mummy I think you are boobitastic"!

AngelDog · 09/02/2012 20:15

Milk, although he pronounces it as 'muh' (he's 2.1). Occasionally he calls it Mummy milk to distinguish it from other kinds.

We also have cow's milk (which Daddy drinks) and oat milk (which Mummy drinks).

WitchOfEndor · 09/02/2012 20:22

Milk, but when 20mo DS asks it sounds like 'milp', it's very cute. We did call it boobie until he learned to speak and I realised I didn't want him shouting boobie at the top of his lungs!

Loving all the responses , thanks for sharing Smile

mummy's 'boobies' and they call it 'boobie milk'

StealthPolarBear · 09/02/2012 22:19

mi-mi, both of mine call it that. And that is the term for the milk and for my breasts. So "I want mi-mi", "I want other mi-mi", "mi-mi gone" or "that mi-mi empty"

StealthPolarBear · 09/02/2012 22:20

And, at a memorable time shopping for bras in tesco
LOOK MUMMY - THEY TO COVER YOUR MI MI AND YOUR NIPPLES. YOU GOT NIPPLES MUMMY. LOOK MUMMY I GOT NIPPLES TOO. CAN I SEE YOUR NIPPLES MUMMY?"
That was fun

GoldenGreen · 09/02/2012 22:21

Milk until 12 months (she signed it from about 11 months I think), and around 14 months or so it become "mummy milk". She is 20 months now and lay in bed yesterday morning singing "muuummy milk" to the Chuggington theme tune!

She doesn't have a word for breasts but she will ask for "other side" after she's fed on one. We are down to one feed a day and I am really going to miss it when she stops.

Mook Smile

MonkeyTastic · 09/02/2012 23:49

DS is too young still to talk but I got so utterly fed up of the word 'milk' by week three that DP and I decided to call it 'Tang' Grin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 10/02/2012 10:00

Grin at Stealth, don't you just want to be somewhere else when they do that!

singing DD stopped at 2.8, she's now 4.5 and still talks about it. Wished I'd self weaned her but at the time I'd had enough.

Quenelle · 10/02/2012 10:13

I remember once hearing DH say to DS 'Oh, are you hungry? Wanna tug on yer mum?'

He never said it again Angry

HamburgerHelper · 10/02/2012 10:16

maybe the daddy booby is bigger than the mummy booby?

duchesse · 10/02/2012 10:31

DD3 calls it "mummy milk" which I think is quite civilised (now down to 1x per day). She also has rice milk and goat milk, which she calls "bottle milkie".

EauRouge · 10/02/2012 14:30

Neither one is significantly larger or hairier, it's a total mystery.

DD1 calls nipples 'nibbles', which is quite sweet. She was in stitches yesterday at Charlie and Lola because they had a pet mouse called Nibbles. It took me a while to figure out why she found it so funny Grin

megapixels · 10/02/2012 14:35

Milk.

Whyriskit · 10/02/2012 16:17

DS2 (18months) calls it muh. Which, co-incidentally, is what he also calls me. It's nice to know where I fit into the whole scheme of things! He's also taken to signing "milk" when he's latched on. Maybe he's just pointing out what he's doing in case I hadn't noticed Hmm

BaronessBomburst · 11/02/2012 23:19

DH always referred to it as tit juice, and DS started to ask for titty. I've tried to counteract this by always saying milk, so now DS has combined the two and calls it titty milk - usually loudly and in public. Cheers, thanks for that DH!

Mondaybaby · 12/02/2012 21:35

My 17mo dd calls it 'ga' or 'gaga'.
