Why is he pulling back while feeding?

hello!
I'm having the same issues with DS that I had 8 years ago with DD, and wondered if anyone has any advice.
DS is 6.5 months and been diagnosed with milk allergy due to a very poor weight gain. We have been giving supplementary bottles of pepti-junior since diagnosis at one month old and he now has 3 bottles a day and a breastfeed morning and evening (apart from when he was ill last week and refused bottles) I have noticed recently that he's doing exactly the same as DD used to - he pulls back while feeding and stretches my nipple back with him!
Whilst it's not really painful, it is pretty uncomfortable and I'd like to know if anyone else's baby does this, or has any idea why my babies are strange like this!
Thanks!

Both of mine did that too. DS2 used to pull my nipple back and turn his head then try to fall asleep like this. My boob was quite literally twisted over and backwards. It didn't hurt when he did it but i must have fallen asleep like it once, when i woke a few hours later the pain was unbearable. It felt like he had broken my boob if you could do such a thing. Just thinking about it is making me wince.

Is it teething-related? DD has been doing this for the last few days and her first tooth is just breaking through. It is like she is clamping down on me and twisting about in discomfort, think I am acting as her teething ring!

I have heard it can be something babies do trying to get another letdown, but I don't know whether that's true or not.

my DS (3 month) does this when he's full of wind. damn near pulls my nipple clean off sometimes!

Redkites, I think you might have the best answer in my case. I think he migh be trying to get more milk out!
I love the advice I get from the girls on here, thanks!
