Have been 'dream feeding' (at 10pm) my 14 wks old ds since he was about6 or 7 weeks old, with great success. However, for the last two nights, he has been awake and crying for this feed by 9.45pm. I can't understand it, as both these days he had ended up napping later and having his afternoon bottle later (i.e. 4 instead of 3), so only three hours between that and his 'go to bed' bottle at 7, hence i'd have thought he'd have wanted it later if anything. THen this morning, he woke up at 4am wanting a feed, when he has been going until 5.30-6.30 for ages now. Guess he's probably just having a growth spurt and can top up his feeds, but any suggestions as to what I do about him waking before the dream feed - hence it's no longer a dream feed, iyswim? Guess I'm a bit worried that if he's too wide awake for this feed, he'll start to be a nightmare to settle.

If it is a regular time, you could anticipate that and feed him a little bit earlier? If it is a growth spurt, he should settle back down in a few days.

had wondered about feeding earlier, but that would mean it was only 2 1/2 hours since his 'go to bed' bottle and I thought that might just be a bit too much, too close together. don't know, am at my wits end to be honest, as i am pretty shattered - for some unknown reason, I'm not sleeping even when he is mega frustrating....AARRGGHHH!!!!! Hence can't really think straight. Would really appreciate some help / suggestions.

Sorry in advance if you have tried this...
we did the dream feed with our ds, when things got pushed back to later times I noticed him doing the same. At 2 1/2 hours he will be coming into a light part of his sleep cycle (I'm sure someone will tell me Im wrong about this..) We managed to sooth our wee one back to sleep(no bottle) and then did a proper dream feed between half ten eleven.
I understand the baby whisperers concept of not making a habit of waking up cause their hungy, but to be honest when they have a wee growth spurt, or are unsettled for a few nights im not sure that it made a huge difference, again i'm sure some people will dissagree with me...
