..my milk 'drying up'?

My baby is 15 weeks. This last week she's been feeding loads more often. She could go 3ish hours before, sometimes longer but now she only lasts an hour tops whilst she's awake and night feeds are coming closer together too.

My boobs feel soft all the time where before they'd feel firm before a feed. Not rock hard like they did sometimes when she was tiny, but firmer than after a feed.

I've freaked myself out that it's running out

there is a growth spurt at 3 months, so 15weeks fits in with that.

4m developmental spurt?

Your breasts feeling soft is a good thing - over-producing breasts feel hard, producing what baby needs feel soft. Making too much milk doesn't make sense as so much goes into BM, why would your body make more on the off chance your baby might need it? You can make more milk if baby needs it, but why store more all the time just in case?

Also, if baby is feeding a lot the milk won't have a chance to accumulate in your breasts so you may well be feeding your DD 'freshly made' milk. This is absolutely fine as the newer the milk is the MORE fat there is. Good article here on how this works.

That happened with me too, it was also around that time that I was starting to get more "settled" and not making loads of excess milk, so my boobs would only be firm in the morning if she'd slept through.

Definitely wouldn't worry, as long as your LO is still wetting nappies you're still producing what they need.

Thank you all, my mind is put at rest. Bit of a sudden panic!
