Older baby positioning and attachment

... I've been thinking about this and can't find a lot easily on the web... do babies have to relearn good attachment as their teeth come through? And as their mouth grows?

Anyone got any comments/anecdotes/info on this?

Basically my 7 month DD is not feeding comfortably for me at the minute, and it could either be her tongue tie growing back, or adjustment to the 2 new teeth that have just appeared (the clicking sound is not back, just the discomfort). How can I help a squirming wriggly pinching 7 month old get good positioning?

I went through a period of discomfort with DS (who also had a tonge tie divided) not long after his teeth first started coming through - he was 11 months. I didnt find out for sure what was causing it, but I put it down to the teeth. In his case, I don't think it was to do with his position. It felt like a combination of him wriggling/not focusing and 'feeling' his new teeth. It was as if he had become a bit lazy, and I got the brunt of it!

I ended up removing him every time it was uncomfortable. I have heard people on hear suggest pressing a child into the breast to cut off their air supply for a moment and make them open their mouth, but that never worked for me. I used to cover his nostrils with my finger and he would just open his mouth. He eventually went back to feeding as normal.

It was a blocked duct on each nipple! Hard white lump blocking the flow .... little plugs like blocked pores - very weird but now sorted!

Oh, I will have to have a look at mine as feeding has suddenly become painful and DS has two bottom teeth.
