dc2 due in 4 weeks - hints and tips most welcome!

Our second child is due at the end of February and I'm intending to bf again. Dc1 took to it very quickly first time round and I'm hoping that we have a positive experience this time.

Time will tell I guess, but my question is this: how do you cope in those first few weeks of bf with a toddler in close attendance?! How did you keep yours occupied? Was it easy, or a complete nightmare?

Hints / tips / experiences most welcome!

Have 3 month old and a 4 & 11 year old. Tv, innotab and iPhone has helped Blush (I'll be flamed)

I had to Google innotab - it sounded like a tranquiliser! Blush

Dh had the first 5 weeks off (over Christmas) so that helped. Someone suggested having a special box of toys that only came out during feeds - I'm not organised enough so not tried that. We use tv if just me Blush but less so now DD is 8 weeks. I usually give DS a snack or we'll read a book or he'll run about causing trouble Grin

When I'm out, I always give him a snack to get him to sit still and tend not to give DD a full feed - I'll take her off after a bit then will feed once home.

Lol at tranquilliser Grin

Early days was easier as dh had paternity leave a d over October half term so ds1 (11) played with ds2. Also dd would feed regardless of wether I was reading to ds2 or he was rabble rousings... However now dd is 14 weeks she's a real nosey monkey and will pull off to awe what's happening, wake if ds is chatting etc. sorry, but I know it'll get better and only a short time.

Cbeebies if necessary. However, since newborns sit still I found it fairly easy to read a book or do a puzzle whilst feeding when I could be arced. Much harder now at 8 months actually!
