hi all, I'm baffled and need opinions. My first baby had silent reflux which wasn't diagnosed until she was a year old. In that year she went from a newborn on the 50th centime to a 1 year old who was so far off the weight chart that she was off the page. She screamed, arched her back etc and in the end basically stopped feeding by 3 months old. Weaning didn't change much. It was awful. Now she's ok, but tiny and still a bugger when it comes to food! And still no where near the bottom line on the wretched growth charts.
Now, 5 years later, I've braved having a second child. Again, he was born right on the 50th centile, and 10 weeks later he is slipping off the chart. Over the past 3 or 4 weeks he's started getting fussy during feeds. (I mainly breast feed but do also give him the odd bottle of expressed and formula). He isn't screaming in agony, but after a couple of minutes he pulls of and won't go back on. He seems windy sometimes, but not totally awful, like my first who once famously screamed for 7 hours.
So, do I assume reflux again? Do I ditch breat feeding so I can get a true idea of exactly how much he's eating? If I stay bfeeding do I modify my diet - give up dairy, onions etc? I'm flailing around and beginning to panic. I don't want another starving baby on my hands. What would you do if you were me?

Best thing to do is speak to a health visitor or doctor. The sooner it is diagnosed the better. I formula fed my little one and he is fine! I did however have n option as my breast milk dried up as soon as he was born.

If it was me I'd be phoning my GP or health visitor first thing in the morning to ask for help. And I wouldn't leave them alone until they'd given me it!

I have explained my worries to the hv, but she tells me he's fine. Which is, for now. I just dont want it to be leftbtoo late. Will try the gp. Thank you.
