I've been bf our DD for the last month. Just expressed milk for the first time. I got 110ml from my left breast, but only about 10ml from my right. My right breast is noticeably smaller and less 'full' than the left breast so I've suspected it wasn't producing as much, but didn't think the difference would be this much. Any advice on why my right breast is producing so little milk and what I can do about it?

Thanks

I can't give you any advice how to improve supply but I can let you know that it's not at all uncommon for one breast to yield more than the other when expessing. 110ml is actually a very good expressing amount I used to be able to get about 88ml from one breast on a good day and used to have to express twice a day just to get one feed for DD.

I would have struggled to get that much and i bf for 5 years in total ( different babies). I never got on with expressing although i obvs had plenty milk

No expert, but my experience was similar. Are you right handed? I am and found my right breast produced much less milk and I think I inadvertantly offered the left breast more often. I was always more comfortable that way round as I could use my right hand to hold a cup, the tv remote or s book. Maybe monitor this and make sure you're offering both equally. It's supply and demand after all. It could also be an idea to see a bf consultant just in case they spot something you haven't - blocked duct, holding baby differently for example.

Expressing is no idication of supply at all nearther is fullness or size. Some people find the flow different from one side to the other which could explain why you got more from one side.

Milk is made on demanded and not stored(well some is but not much) in the breast.

Completely agree that amount you express does not indicate supply, though it is also normal to have one side produce more than the other. I also find it easier to get a letdown for a breast pump from one side than the other, so that may be another possibility to consider.
